Sheldon Cooper’s T-Shirts

Sheldon Cooper’s attire in The Big Bang Theory is characterised by a graphic tee shirt worn over a long sleeved top with sleeves rolled up. Often the T-shirts bare emblems of his favourite DC comic book heroes for example The Flash; an original member of the Justice League with the ability of incredible super human speed. He is also a character Sheldon tries to dress up as at any opportunity like in an episode in which the crew, along with Penny’s current boyfriend Zack, attend a New Year’s Eve party at the comic book store as The Justice League of America.

Other Sheldon T-shirts include Batman and Superman themes as well as the Green Arrow and Green Lantern. DC Comics in order to promote their comic books sponsored some of Sheldon Cooper’s T-Shirt for the show. When wearing T-shirts from the Green Lantern Series the different coloured shirts represent a different faction or ‘Corp’ from the original comics. For Example The Red Lantern Corps, Indigo Tribe, Agent Orange and the Sinestro Corps.

Each Corps utilised a particular colour from the ‘Emotional Spectrum’ (a fictional idea created by DC) they harnessed these as power sources using rings. Each Corps was associated with a different colour and therefore a different emotion. The colour of T-shirt Sheldon wears in any given episode, in which he sports an emblem from the Green Lantern series, gives the viewer an indicator of how he is feeling and what his temperament may be in the episode.

So the colour of his top may give a clue to his mood. Red would indicate anger or rage, orange is greed or a need to want something someone else has, yellow represents fear, green is willpower or self-control, blue is hope, indigo compassion and violet indicates love. So next time you’re watching look out for what shirt Sheldon’s wearing. And remember Always be yourself Unless you can be Sheldon Always be Sheldon.
